I am a loyal Fuzzy's patron and disabled veteran and have ordered on the phone for pick-up for nearly four years at their Lawrence, Kansas location. 

I just made a batch of guacamole and called to order our dinner, but the young man on the phone said" we're too busy right now and are not accepting take-out orders". Seriously? Too busy to take my money? What kind of operation are you running in Lawrence?

I have given Fuzzy's high marks on my popular blog and Yelp, Zomato and Tabelog reviews, but that has now come to an end as I will never set foot or call-in to Fuzzy's again.

Other than the fact that I have ordered guacamole on two occasions and was told "sorry, we are out of guacamole", Fuzzy's is great! How can a Mexican restaurant be out of guacamole? Anyway, the tacos are excellent and at $2 a pop, A LAWRENCE BEST VALUE. They come crispy or soft, regular or Habañero, and with ground beef, shredded beef, chicken, or pork, so you can mix and match with other tacos, enchiladas, burritos, tort as (sandwiches), fajitas, and more. Beside the meat of your choice, lettuce, tomato, and crumbled feta cheese are added. I prefer the shredded beef tacos.

The guacamole is pretty good although resting on a bed of shredded lettuce, the size is deceiving. At $3.99, including chips, the price is comparable to other Lawrence Mexican restaurants. The chili con queso ($3.49 including chips) is also good and like the guacamole can be ordered ala carte (no chips).

The fajitas are "OK", nothing great. The enchiladas come with a white (cheese) sauce, so you have to ask if you want the more familiar red sauce. They are well done, not the best I have had, but better than most Lawrence enchiladas I have tried.

For a self-service, fast food restaurant, Fuzzy's puts out good Mexican fare at a reasonable price. Their margaritas are not cheap ($6), but are decent and reasonably fortified. There are drink and beer specials daily, but do not expect anything close to those you can find at El Mezcal (23rd Street) in size or price. In all, Fuzzy's is an outstanding value and a neighborhood gem ... BUT MAKE SURE YOU ARRIVE BEFORE THE SORORITIES AND FRATERNITIES THAT FREQUENT FUZZY'S!
